    Five Days Off

It is my first five-day-off. Absolutely excited!
Goffary, a very nice and wise guy, is quite curious about how life is in China. What do Chinese do, how is the kitchen like, what kind of buildings are there, etc, they are all what he is interested in. He even remembered the first time when he was told how a Chinese charater composes and then he wrote it down on my notebook -- 木 which means tree. He would love to go to China someday, and I believe it is not a problem for Bevan and me to be his guide! Then he brought me a world map nearly 40 years old -- much much older than me and asked me to point out my home city. I feel like talking to him over a large range of topics when he was waiting for peak time passing at the office. Never had a disscussion with a foreigner to that degree. Happy. I love my new job because it is not boring at all. And I do like my colleagues there who are always ready to help and can not treat me any better.
Here is some good news these days. Firstly, Bevan and I got my Dad a beret in a little shop called Steward Christie on Queen Street. Secondly thanks to everyone's contribution we finally got the refund of council tax. What is more, Kingkong and Sammi whom we will meet in 9 hours would spend the holiday with us together! It is just like a moderate wind in summer made us very comfortable and satisfied.
           What a beautiful life!

    We will get there!

One vehicle in our pound just lost. Don't know how it happened even no one figures out what had happened to this car! We can not find any information about the release procedure but we do have paper work for its being booked in. It is weird, isn't it? Boss was here forcing us to check all documents we got again and again which had nothing to help but to drive Hannah (my colleague also my supervisor) nuts. We were completely lost. But, what I could say is that tonight I found a clue about the period when the vehicle could be missing, in other word, I thought it must be between 22nd and 27th December and Chrismas period is the most likely among those days. Hannah is fascinated by detective novels and here is the moment that she could apply all the theories to practicals. Anyway we will get there!
Our Spanish friends Ubaldo and David are setting off for home gradually. They have tried to find a proper job in Edinburgh for around 3 months but still got nothing valuable. Therefore they made up their mind to go home. Still wondering what they would do in the future, looking for a job in Spain or carrying on with their global tourism plan.  From the discussion with them, I realised how lucky I am to take a job like this. But the most important part is that both Bevan and I felt sorrow about this. They have become our good friends even though come to know each other only a few days.
However, it is not the destiny for everyone. There should be a bright and elegant future awaiting for all of us; just like Bevan has got good news for his PHD application after a not short time nonresponse. I am very happy for him and feel so pround of him as well. Life is like a box of chocolates, you will never know what is next. Btw, I tried some sorts of chocolates and sweets here, it is true.

    It is 2007!

At times I would make some weird decisions after being emotionally shocked. Just like the moment I think it is the time for me to renew my blog everyday so that I could catch up with Bevan. Late better than never.
Hope everyone have a happy and nice new year! How time flies! It is 2007, only a year to go for the Olympic Games 2008. I just could not help being proud to be a Chinese when I was asked where I came from. And I also got very excited when I tried to introduce that the next Olympic Games would be held in Beijing and Qingdao as well. "Well, Qingdao is my hometown, she would hold the sailing game as a partner of Beijing for the Olympic Games in 2008! She is famous for her beer -- Qingdao Beer. Friends from all over the world come over and gather together to enjoy the International Beer Festival in summer."
I got my first job and my first wage a month ago! Actually I worked for NCP (National Car Parks Ltd) who is cooperating with Edinburgh City Council to take charge of both on-street and off-street car parks. And the place I worked is called "Edinburgh Car Pound". I do not get the meaning of Pound at the beginning. Sometimes it is hard to find an exactly same word in Chinese to describe it. Anyway, people whose car was parked illegally would have to pay 135 or 150 pounds to retrieve it from us. It is a challenging work because I have to write down some impound and relocation details after the radio dictations. What is more, I have to communicate with customers face to face who could not be that happy. It is difficult for anyone to act readily when you take a lot of money from him so that he is eligible to take his own car back! Nonetheless, if I could survive all these then it is not a problem for me to cope with any other job.
What I benefit from the work also include a good habit that I am longing for all the time -- regular work and rest. At leas breakfast and early morning news are good for me.
Friends and Bevan always say it is so lucky for me to get that job. It was thanks to a little bit persistence on that day instead of a let-it-go attitude.
New year, new you! Never say die! Nothing impossible!
